Did the Punishment fit the Crime?
Hear about some of the punishments meted out to wrongdoers in times past. Learn about the differences between the Stocks and the Pillory, and what they were used for. Discover the less benign punishments such as the Scold's Bridle and Whipping.
The middle part of the presentation is about the ultimate penalty - death!
The last part I call "Confession is good for the soul". Hear about the fiendish machines devised to inflict pain and humiliation on their hapless victims, in order to gain a confession. Learn what happens to the human body when subjected to such devices.
This presentation is NOT for the faint of heart, but it is historically accurate. Today, the Tower of London is a tourist attraction, but it wasn't always so. The things described in this presentation went on behind its thick walls.
